Our Horsemanship Philosophy

We believe that horses should be treated with great respect and understanding so that we may become good working partners with our horses. In order to better understand horses so that we may offer them this respect and understanding, we must continue to grow as human beings: to become better people, if not for ourselves, then for them. They did not choose this life, it was chosen for them by us. Because of this we have a great obligation to the horses; we must do everything in our power at the moment to best fit them and to continue working on ourselves to become better for them.

Specializing in teaching Foundation Horsemanship, we teach our students to effectively communicate with their horses through feel, timing and balance. We practice the horsemanship philosophies of Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt and Buck Brannaman to the best of our understanding and abilities. At Donohue Horsemanship, you will find no gimmicks, no song and dance, just a community of people trying to improve themselves and their horses!

We offer horsemanship lessons for beginners through advanced riders, horsemanship clinics, colt starting, and refinement training for you and your horse!

"I have been taking lessons and riding horses with the Donohues for just over three years. This is a phenomenal place to learn the finest quality horsemanship. Great exposure to all elements of riding from the very basics to advanced skills including working with cattle and ranch roping. Very friendly environment to learn and grow. Highly recommended."

Fall and Winter Horsemanship Clinics

Summer is coming to an end, which means we are looking ahead to what we have planned for fall and winter here at the ranch! We have one final cow working clinic on September 23rd to wrap up our summer series. For fall, we have a couple of our own clinics planned, both here at the ranch and also at other facilities. Check our calendar for a full list of dates. In November, we are hosting Ricky Quinn here at the ranch, for a three day clinic. There is also still one more Western States Stock Horse show in October that we will be attending. We have a few ideas we are working on for some fun events for all of our lesson students, so stay tuned for more information in the coming months! To sign up for any of these events or for more information, contact  info@donohuehorsemanship.com.
